Head of Engagement

Badminton Scotland is the governing body for the sport in Scotland.  Our role is to develop individuals and communities through participation in badminton, develop performance athletes, and accelerate the growth of the sport throughout the country.

Badminton Scotland is committed to playing a central role in communities throughout the country, placing an emphasis on accessibility for everyone regardless of ability, age, gender, ethnic origin or fitness.   By doing so we will achieve our ambitious goal of becoming the biggest participation sport in Scotland.

Over the past year the Chief Executive has modernised the organisation and significantly restructured his leadership team, a key member of which is the Head of Engagement.  We are now looking to appoint an energetic and enthusiastic professional to this position.  The successful candidate will develop and implement programmes designed to increase our engagement with individuals, clubs, schools, colleges and universities, and other community groups.  This will also include modernising our development and coaching programmes and increasing the numbers of coaches and volunteers within the sport.

A vital part of the role will involve working alongside the Marketing team to develop a range of commercial opportunities for Badminton Scotland that will enable the organisation to increase its financial resources.

The job holder will lead a team consisting of Regional Development Officers located throughout Scotland, a Competition Co-ordinator tasked with increasing participation through the operation of a competition structure, and two support staff who ensure all the membership information is accurate and productive.

This position is pivotal to the success of Badminton Scotland.  The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate leadership and keen commercial appreciation aligned with excellent knowledge of sport development.  This must be aligned to the communication skills necessary to represent badminton in the broader sport environment.

This is a very exciting time for badminton in Scotland.  Working alongside the other members of the Leadership Group the Head of Engagement will have a unique opportunity of making their mark on the sport, the community and the health of people across Scotland.

A salary of around £37,000 is offered along with other benefits.  The position is based in Glasgow and will involve travelling throughout the country.
