Kevin Scott
Chair
Kevin will lead the Board over the next 4-year cycle to oversee strategy, including the transformation of our membership and build on the diversity and inclusion within our sport. He has worked successfully in senior executive Director positions in two of the UK and Europe’s leading Fund Management companies and led teams across the UK, Europe and Asia.
Kevin has a distinguished career in business and badminton, having competed for Scotland at International level at major events including World Championships, European Championships, Commonwealth Games and Thomas Cup.
Keith Russell
Chief Executive Officer
As CEO Keith is responsible for the delivery of our strategic plan – ensuring that we communicate effectively with our members, clubs, partners and Badminton players across Scotland. As a contrast, Keith learned to juggle in 1985 and has since taught hundreds of others to do the same.
Carolyn Young
President
Carolyn Young has been involved with badminton for 40 years and still competes regularly, supporting local leagues. She has been on the Lothian Group Committee for a number of years and says ‘it is a great privilege to be on the board and have the opportunity to input into the growth of our sport’.
Colin Campbell
Vice President
Colin grew up in the Black Isle in a badminton family and started playing at the age of 10. Since then, badminton has been a huge part of Colin’s, having played at junior level through to masters age group. He has also been heavily involved as a volunteer, organising and refereeing tournaments and fulfilling the treasurer role for Lothian Group for many years. Both of Colin’s sons also played badminton at international level.
Colin tell us: “It’s a great honour to be following in the footsteps of my brother Ian, as Vice President of Badminton Scotland, and I hope that I will be able to help the sport grow in participation and popularity over the next few years.”
Christine Black
Chair Of Performance
Christine has been a Director of Badminton Scotland since 2007 and appointed President in 2009 – 2011. Former Commonwealth medallist and a lifetime of involvement in badminton, has given her the opportunity to pass on that vast wealth of experience to help develop the sport on all levels.
Morag McCulloch
Chair Of Events Committee
Morag has been involved with Badminton Scotland for over 40 years and was president from 2001-2003. When asked why she joined the Badminton Scotland Board, she stated: “I enjoy being a member of a very enthusiastic team and particularly enjoy involvement in major tournaments.”
John Craig
Chair Of Engagement
John has served his badminton apprenticeship running Scotstoun Junior Badminton Club and volunteering with Glasgow & North Strathclyde Group. As Chair of Engagement, his committee covers engagement with the players, clubs, coaches, officials and volunteers.
Bill Blacoe
Non Executive Director
Bill spent his younger years competing regularly, continuing through University and into his mid-20s. His background is Big 4 accountancy, finance, banking and business management . After a 20 year ‘sabbatical’, he sees his involvement with Badminton Scotland as a way to give back to the sport which has played such an important role in his life.
