Christopher and Matthew Grimley bowed out of the boys’ doubles at the World Junior Championships in Yogyakarta today.
The twins, facing Chinese Taipei’s Chuang Pu Sheng and Lin Yu Chieh, took the first game 22-20 but couldn’t build on their good start and succumbed 21-17 21-16.
The defeat ends Scotland’s interest in the tournament and the six-strong squad, along with Head Coach Robert Blair, will now travel back to Scotland.
Next up for the Grimleys will be the Hungarian International from 2-5 November before heading to the Czech Junior International two weeks later.
Ciara Torrance will also compete in Hungary and the whole of Scotland’s World Junior Championships squad, with the exception of Rachel Sugden, will be in action at the Scottish Open Grand Prix from 22-26 November at Emirates Arena.
Sugden will miss the Open to compete at the Under 17 European Championships in Prague from 21-29 November.
