Jodie Black, who was unseeded in the girls’ singles took the title at the U15 Glasgow Championships at the weekend by beating Brooke Stalker in the final 21-18 21-13.
She then won a thrilling girls’ doubles final with her partner Jessica Robson 20-22 21-11 21-19, beating Rachel Broadley and Lindsey Ireland to take the title.
Finally she triumphed in the mixed doubles with Isaac Weir to complete a very successful afternoon with a comprehensive 21-11 21-19 win over Joseph Carlyle and Amanda Martin.
The boys’ singles was won by Shaun Aamir who had defeated second seed Euan Campbell in the second round then joint 3/4 seed Grant Lewis and finally joint 5/8 seed Lewis Hart in the final.
The boys’ doubles was won by Euan Campbell and Ian Campbell, with Lewis Hart again having to settle for silver with his partner Weir.
The Under 19 boys’ singles final was the latest in a long line of contests between the Grimley twins, with Christopher winning 21-13 22-20 after a hard fought battle.
They also went on to take the doubles title, beating Glen Lewington and Ciar Pringle 21-14 21-12 in the final.
The girls’ singles went according to seeding with top seed Rachel Sugden defeating second Lauren Middleton in the final but Lauren then went on to pick up both doubles.
She won the level doubles with Sarah Sidebottom against Rachel Andrew and Rachel Cameron before taking the mixed doubles title alongside Robbie Patterson with a 21-12 19-21 21-19 win over Adam Pringle and Rachel Andrew in the last match of the tournament, which also proved to be the highlight of a fantastic weekend of badminton.
