Congratulations to Aidan Hunter and Craig McCandlish who both received awards at the Clackmannanshire Sports Council Annual Awards at Alloa Town Hall on the 28th March for their work in Badminton in Clackmannanshire.
Aidan Hunter received the award for Young Leader/ Volunteer (Senior) category with a total of 15 nominations.
Aidan, who plays for Forthside Junior Badminton Club along with representing Alloa Academy at the Scottish National Secondary Schools Championships, was recognised for his devoted effort in promoting badminton in Clackmannanshire as a young leader.
He volunteers running the Badminton sessions in Alloa Academy that has become the most popular after school club in the school thanks to his dedication. He was also among the many young sports leaders who volunteered to help deliver Big Hit festivals at World Championship last year.
Craig McCandlish received the award in the Coach of the Year (Participation) category with 5 nominations.
Craig is the head of coach for the Forthside Junior Badminton Club. Craig and his wife Adele along with a dedicated team of volunteers have developed Forthside junior club since 2013 providing a place for juniors from the Stirling and Clackmannanshire areas to enjoy Badminton and improve their skills.
He has been always passionate about badminton and believes that Badminton should be accessible and inclusive for all.
Coaching junior players from Clackmannanshire and Central Scotland he gives up his time willingly to help young players reach their potential and get enjoyment out of Badminton.
