Toni Woods enjoyed mixed success on day two of the Hellas International in Sidirokastro, Greece.
The Falkirk-based player bounced back from being knocked out of the women’s singles on day one to progress to the second round of the mixed doubles with Cypriot partner Elias Nicolaou.
Facing the tough Cyprus pairing of Christakis Temereas and Maria Avraamidou on day two of the event, they managed to come through convincingly, winning 21-14 21-17.
That set up a meeting with Dennis Koppen and Chloe Mayer from the Netherlands, but unfortunately Woods and Nicolaou were unable to repeat their first-round heroics.
In two closely-fought sets, the pairing went down 21-17 21-19 as they missed out on a quarter-final against English pairing Callum Hemming and Fee Teng Liew.
Woods was defeated by Romanian Sonia Ratiu, who was eventually knocked out in the second round of the last 32 draw, in the women’s singles qualification on day one.
She lost the first set 21-12 before rallying in the second set to narrowly lose 21-17 as her participation in the singles came to a premature end.
