School Kit Bag Programme Continues to Provide New Badminton Opportunities

Three more Scottish primary schools have received a school kit bag delivered on behalf of BADMINTONscotland’s TOTAL BWF Badminton World Championships 2017 legacy programme.

Regional development officer, Euan Murray was busier than usual recently as he travelled to three schools in two weeks to deliver the kit bags – alongside delivering coaching sessions to give the teachers some ideas of how best to use their new resources.

St Thomas’ Primary School in Neilston, St Mark’s Primary School in Rutherglen and Holy Cross Primary School in Govanhill were the latest schools to feature as part of the programme.

The kit bags contain everything that you would need to set up a badminton club – shuttles, rackets and nets.

St Thomas’, St Mark’s and Holy Cross all attended the Big Hit Festivals during the TOTAL BWF Badminton World Championships 2017 at the Emirates arena last August.

The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the experience, getting to see the fast-paced elite-level badminton, before getting to grips with some badminton skills of their own.

Now they can continue to develop these skills through their own school activities.
