Ciar Pringle and Ciara Torrance were unlucky to narrowly miss out on qualifying in the mixed doubles at the KaBaL International Karviná today.
They lost to Czech Republic duo Vojtech Selong and Denisa Šikalová in 22 minutes, 21-17 21-14.
The Scots did manage to score two points more than Danish pair Patrick Abildgaard and Mathilde Haapanen, who Selong and Šikalová beat 21-17 21-12 earlier in the day.
For both Pringle, 19, and Torrance, 18, their defeat does not spell the end of the tournament though, as both have a chance for redemption when they appear in doubles action again tomorrow.
Torrance is first up in the women’s event where she will partner up with England’s Jessica Hopton against top-seeded Azbeta Basova and Michaela Fuchsova, both playing on their home soil.
Glaswegian Pringle will play the last match of the day, teaming up with Englishman Michael Roe against an as yet unnamed opponent in the men’s doubles and hoping to boost his career tally of 33 wins across all disciplines.
