Are you currently working with performance players and looking to upskill your knowledge? Would you like to take the next step on your coaching journey?
If so then our UKCC Level 3 Certificate for Head Coaches in badminton may be the next step for you.
It is the highest coaching qualification offered by Badminton Scotland and we are now taking applications for the course which starts on 24 & 25 August 2019.
Successful completion of the UKCC Level 3 course will qualify you to take up a Head Coach role, helping you to lead the development of high-level athletes through effective badminton coaching and the application of sports science principles.
It consists of a total of eight days of tuition followed by an informative and summative assessment day, with the whole process usually run over the course of a year.
The course also involves a significant amount of off-court work to be completed, including several e-learning modules covering topics such as physical conditioning, the importance of nutrition in sport and understanding how to develop the mental skills of participants.
Lyndsay Morrison, Badminton Scotland’s Head of Engagement, said “The delivery of a UKCC Level 3 is a significant step in the development of coaches and for badminton in Scotland.
“Hosting a course allows us to provide an opportunity for those who are already operating at a high level, or with plans to be doing so soon, the chance to progress further in their coaching careers. This in turn, supports the development of players, clubs and a stronger pathway.
“The last time we delivered a Level 3 was in 2015, so the opportunity does not come around very often and we would urge coaches who are unsure whether to take the step or not to get in touch for a chat.
“I would like to thank Lee Bent from Badminton England who provided us with guidance and advice and to sportscotland for their continued support, including offering subsidy funding for our coaches who meet the relevant criteria.”
This is Badminton Scotland’s highest coaching qualification and in order to apply, you must currently be coaching in a high performance environment.
The full cost of the course is £900, although coaches can apply through the Badminton Scotland application process to access a subsidy from sportscotland at 20%, 40% or 60% of the course cost.
