Glasgow & North Strathclyde Group and Babolat-sponsored Scotstoun Badminton Club were delighted to welcome thirty-four under ten year old players to the National Badminton Academy on the 4 of June.
Having travelled from places like Aberdeen, Strathcarron, North Berwick, Stirling, Edinburgh, Stonehaven and Livingstone to compete alongside those from the West of Scotland. The players had a great day of competition with 146 matches were played across all events. Players who entered singles and doubles got at least twelve matches.
In the girls singles final Iona Muir (Renfrew) beat Ellen Phillips (Glasgow) the girls both from Scotstoun Badminton Club then joined forces to win the girls doubles event by beating Poppy Shell and Deepti Vijayakumar, both from Edinburgh.
In the boys singles Ewan Stewart (Bearsden) beat Callum Jack (Edinburgh) 21-18 in a closely contested final.
In the boy’s doubles final, Logan Brodie and Blair Tait both from Edinburgh’s Tall Oaks club beat Callum Jack and Abhi Vinjam (Livingstone)
