Brooke chasing another title double at Under 11s

Brooke Stalker was today named top seed in both her events as she prepares to defend her girls’ singles and doubles titles at the National Junior Badminton Championships for Under 11s at Glasgow’s National Badminton Academy at Scotstoun on Saturday May 13.

The Dunfermline youngster is seeded to meet Katrina Chan of Glasgow in the singles final at this last age-group event of the season.

Brooke and Katrina then team up to defend their girls’ doubles title with Renfrew’s Iona Muir and Irvine’s Eva Tremble seeded to meet them in the final. Iona is also joint third seed in the singles along with Edinburgh’s Vibha Raman.

North Berwick’s Ben Riddle is top seed in the boys’ singles ahead of Dundee’s Callan Short in the event which has attracted the biggest entry and, as a result, has eight seeds in a 32-strong draw.

Ben also starts favourite in the boys’ doubles as he prepares to defend the title he won last year with Harry Bent. This time he partners Glasgow’s Karan Shah with Callan second seed in partnership with Stonehaven’s Joseph O’Neil-Ferrero.

A total of 51 players will be competing at the Under 11 Nationals. The draw will be published on Wednesday 10 May.
