ELEANOR O’DONNELL ended her junior career on a high with a mixed doubles silver medal at the European Junior Championships 2017 in Mulhouse last weekend.
Now, this weekend, she heads for Wateringen in Holland to continue her senior career in at the 18th Victor Dutch International.
The 18-year-old from Beith partners Edinburgh’s Julie MacPherson in the women’s doubles and the Scotland pair are seeded to reach the Dutch final.
The second seeds have received a first-round bye and will start their challenge on Friday night against Dutch pair Milou Lugters and Alyssa Tirtosentono.
It is the start of a hectic few weeks for uncapped O’Donnell. Next week she and MacPherson head to Kolding in Denmark for the European Championships and next month O’Donnell can expect to make her Scotland international debut when she and MacPherson are part of the eight-strong team competing at the TOTAL BWF Sudirman Cup 2017 in Gold Coast, Australia.
MacPherson and O’Donnell are joined in Wateringen by team-mates Adam Hall and O’Donnell’s silver medal winning partner Alex Dunn, who are looking to build on their runners-up spot at the Yonex Polish Open.
Mauchline's Hall and Motherwell's Dunn face a first-round test against Steve Olesen and Mathias Weber Estrup of Denmark with the winners meeting top seeds Matijs Dierickx and Freek Golinski of Belgium later on Friday.
