Once again due to popular demand we are offering a series of activities during the Scottish Open including Primary Big Hit Festivals, ASN Disability Festival and N4/5/Higher sessions.

Below is further information on the opportunities available during the Scottish Open:
PRIMARY SCHOOLS: Big Hit Festival (4-hour package)
We are offering places on out Big Hit festivals running from the Wednesday to the Friday of the Scottish Open. There are two sessions available – 10:00-12:00 (spectate 12:30-14:30) or 12:30-14:30 (spectate 10:00-12:00). Along with the festival itself we will be running free teacher CLPL running parallel with the festivals and access to the main event for up to two hours before or after your festivals. SECONDARY SCHOOLS: N4/5/Higher Sessions
Once again we are offering our Nat 4/5 Higher practical session for Secondary pupils. The session focuses on developing the training cycle and progressions from simple practices to more complex combination drills as well as the factors that enable good practice. This is a practical based session for the pupils, however we look to engage the teachers as much as possible through observation and discussion. This is a free session to sign up for and includes the chance to spectate both before and after the session. The session runs Wednesday- Friday from 14:45-16:30. Click here to book.
ASN SCHOOLS: Big Hit-Ability Festival
On Thursday 22nd our National Disability Badminton Festival will take place 12:30-14:30 (spectate 10:15-12:15), a session dedicated to those with Additional Support Needs (ASN) for P5 to S4. The session will be tailored to the abilities and needs of the participants and is open to all abilities. Along with the festival itself we will be running FREE teacher CLPL running parallel with the festivals and access to the main event for up to two hours before or after your festivals. The places on the festival are £1 per child which includes the festivals, spectating and teacher CLPL. You can book your place here
ALL SCHOOLS: Free Schools Spectating Tickets
Our free spectating places are available to both Primary and Secondary schools and are free to access from the Wednesday- Friday of the event. Play starts at 10am every day running on into the evening and so you can come and stay as long as you wish on this ticket. Secondary schools can also access match analysis sheets if they wish at the start of their session. The link to book can be found here.
CLUBS: Scottish Open Club Hit Festival - Weekend
We are again offering places at the 2018 Scottish Open Grand Prix Club Hit Festival. These festivals are open to affiliated clubs for participants aged 8 to 17 years old. You can book here
CLUBS: Workshop: Increasing Participation and Retaining Players
This is a great opportunity to learn about different ideas of bringing players in and retaining them during the course of the season and beyond. You can book your place here
ADULTS: Adult Matchplay (22 November)
A unique opportunity for adults to take part in some friendly competition with in the 10 court Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome. Tickets are available to anyone aged 16+. The event begins at 6:30pm and will last until 9:00pm. It will be involve doubles matches with a chance for you to play people from across Scotland.
Tickets are £5 per person for those affiliated with BADMINTONscotland and £7 per person for those who are not affiliated. The package includes your 3 hour session and access into the main event as well as. Book your place here
NATIONAL COACHING CONFERENCE (Saturday 24 November)
Coaches are vital to provide opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to engage in badminton. Once a coach has completed their formal qualification, we want to make sure learning and development continues. When coaches are out delivering in local communities, improving people’s enjoyment of badminton as well as their health and well-being, we want to ensure that they are well supported and equipped by providing opportunities to develop and reflect on current coaching practice.
For this year's National Coaching Conference, we will have former 8 x National Singles Champion, Bruce Flockhart, leading a session on Player Analysis for all level of players. This will be a practical session, using templates whilst watching competitive matches to assess basic fault correction requirements, and how to prioritise.
Bruce will also deliver a session on progressive & tactical practices and how to develop elements of a players game, Singles and Doubles, whilst keeping them enthused.
The National Coaching Conference will run from 10.00am until 1.00pm with Scottish Open Grand Prix tickets, a goody bag and a conference pack included in the ticket price. Click here to book
