Mixed day for Scotland at Denmark Para-Badminton Championships

Colin Leslie and Denmark’s Cathrine Rosengren finished off their Denmark Para-Badminton SL3-SU5 mixed doubles campaign with a comprehensive 21-11 21-9 win over Ukraine’s Oleksandr Chyrkov and Ivanna Redka to finish second in the group, but Mary Wilson and her Brazilian partner lost out to Jan-Niklas Pott and Helle Sagoy to finish third while Pott and Sagoy topped the group.

Chyrkov gained a measure of revenge later when he scored a 21-11 21-13 singles win over Leslie and there was more pain to come for Leslie when he and Raul Anguiano Araujo lost their men’s doubles match to German pair Nils Boning and Tim Haller.

It was a tough day all round for Wilson who lost to both Rosengren and Julie Thrane in the singles, as well as succumbing to them in the women’s doubles.

But a good day for Bobby Laing in the SS6 events saw him score a 21-11 21-7 win over India’s Gandeep Singh Grewal before teaming up with Andrew Martin in the doubles to again defeat Grewal and partner Rachel Choong 21-13 21-11.
