Exciting times for Scottish Para-Badminton

These are exciting times for Para Badminton in Scotland!

The new Head Coach Sarah Bok, who is a former Badminton England internationalist, wants to ensure the sport in Scotland continues to punch above its weight.

Sarah represented England as a junior and then as a senior until 2009. She won several international titles and regularly competed at Super Series level. Sarah has been coaching in Scotland since 2011, since then she has worked with the National Para Badminton Team, National Junior Squad and a number of Academies.

There are four Scotland players likely to qualify for the BWF Para Badminton World Championship which takes place from the 20-25th August 2019 in Basel, Switzerland.

Over 50 nations will be sending their elite Para Badminton players who will be competing in wheelchair, standing and short stature events.

BADMINTONscotland have restructured their National Para Badminton Squad to reflect the growing professionalism in the game. The criteria required to be considered for selection for the National Para Badminton Squad can be found here.

In the coming months there will be opportunities for up and coming Para Badminton players to impress the new Head Coach with the first 2019 UK Para Badminton Championships taking place in Sheffield.

Closer to home a National Para Badminton Day will take place on Sunday 27th October 2019 in Edinburgh. This will be a chance for physically disabled badminton players from all over Scotland who aspire to join the National Para Squad to impress the National Coach. More details to follow.
