Teeside U17 Silver

Five boys and three girls travelled to Stockton on Tees to take part in the Teeside U17 Silver on Saturday 1 February with great results.

First events were women’s doubles and men’s singles. Sophie Barrie and Katie Stewart won their pool and then overcame fellow Scot Amy Craig in the final who had paired up with Honey Edmundson from Lancashire.

In the men’s singles, Finlay Jack, unseeded in the tournament, was unbeatable winning his pool then overcoming fellow Scot Leo McMillan in the quarter finals. Finlay then went on to beat the No2 seed in the semi final with a close 3 set game and then beat the No1 seed in the final.

In the ladies singles, it was an all Scottish final between Katie and Sophie with Katie coming out on top.

In the men’s doubles, Finlay teamed up with Alex Dalton from Cumbria and overcame fellow Scots Leo McMillan and Noah Sarvesvaran in the final.

Finally, in the mixed doubles, Finlay and Sophie were overcome in the semi final by the no2 seeds in a close 3 sets. Katie and Josh then faced the no2 seeds sealing the last win of the day.

A great number of gold, silver and bronze medals won.
