The Danish Open Senior tournament was held in Odense, at the same time as the Danish Open, so we were able to go and watch some big names play on the days we weren’t playing. One of the highlights was the atmosphere watching Rasmussen and Astrup in the men’s doubles semi-finals with thunderous home support.
Our hall was across town in a smaller venue with a bit less crowd noise!
What was interesting was that our masters tournament was run with 2 tiers, a main tournament for E and a separate draw for A (club players). Three Scots masters had entered the E tournament. Laura Muir played singles and mixed doubles on Friday and Saturday, and Suzanne Henderson and Julie Dunlop played ladies doubles on Sunday.
Laura came second in her pool, narrowly losing to the eventual winner of the 40+ E ladies singles. Suzanne and Julie came 3rd of the 5 pairs in the 50+ E ladies doubles, after some good matches.
If anyone wants information to consider entering next year, feel free to get in touch via our WhatsApp Scottish masters group. (To join the WhatsApp group, contact Carolyn Young, President of Badminton Scotland).
