The Event

First held in 1907, the Scottish Open is the third oldest badminton tournament in the world. It will be held from 20-23 November 2025 at Emirates Arena in Glasgow.

The Scottish Open will be held from 20-23 November 2025 at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow. It is the highpoint of Badminton Scotland’s annual tournament calendar and we expect to welcome hundreds of elite players from all over the world to Glasgow.

History of The Scottish Open

First held in 1907, the Scottish Open is the third oldest badminton tournament in the world and since its inception it has grown over the years, welcoming a better quality of players and becoming a better spectating experience.

Numerous World, Olympic, Commonwealth and European champions have competed in Glasgow over the last few years and you can see previous winners of the event here

If you are not currently a member and want to make some great savings on ticket prices then please sign up as an Individual Member of Badminton Scotland.

* Tickets must be ordered in advance to take advantage of these offers. Free and discounted tickets will not be available on the door at the Emirates Arena, even for Badminton Scotland members.

The Scottish Open is the third oldest event in badminton world history and is held in Glasgow’s Emirates Arena, a state of the art facility purpose built for the 2014 Commonwealth Games where the badminton competition was staged. Practice Courts: Please note, the practice courts are at a different location (Sir Craig Reedie Centre) to the competition courts (Emirates Arena). However, we will offer all competitors the chance to practice at Emirates Arena on the competition courts on Wednesday 19 November. Further information about availability and booking procedures will be available closer to the event. To book practice courts, email events@badmintonscotland.org.uk

Transport requests: Please click here to submit your transport requests. If you don’t provide us with your arrival details in advance, we cannot guarantee to be able to collect you on arrival in Glasgow.

Please note, we only provide transportation for players who have booked the official tournament hotel, and made their booking via Creme Conferences.

Accreditation: Each country should provide a list of people who require accreditation, using this form. Please email it to to events@badmintonscotland.org.uk, by Tuesday 27 October.

Officials & Volunteers

We are always looking to welcome volunteers and officials into our team.

The 2025 Scottish Open will be played from 20-23 November at Emirates Arena.

The event attracts hundreds of players from all over the world, as well as incorporating various grass roots activities providing opportunities for Scottish schoolchildren to try the sport, develop their skills, have fun and watch elite level badminton live.

We rely on volunteers to help us make the event happen and we offer opportunities in a variety of roles including transportation, hospitality and stewarding.

Accommodation

Here you will find details of accommodation.

Bed and breakfast accommodation for athletes and support staff will be the Leonardo Royal, 80 Jamaica Street, Glasgow, G1 4QG. Rates are as follows:

Single room: £140

Double/Twin room: £160

The deadline date for bookings is Monday 27 October 2025 at 1200hrs GMT. If you book after this date, we can’t guarantee to provide you with accommodation.

Reservations should be made by contacting Crème Conferences only. To book, email badminton@crememk.co.uk or phone +44 7936 036740. Payment must be made prior to arrival. Please do not make payment directly to the hotel – you should make payment to Crème Conferences for your accommodation.

After the deadline any requests must continue to be directed only to Crème Conferences, but we cannot guarantee the special rates offered. Official transport will be available between the Emirates Arena and the official hotel provided the hotel booking has been made with Crème Conferences. We cannot arrange transport to and from other hotels, or those independently booked.
