A Brilliant Weekend at the West of Scotland Under 13/17 Championships

Huge congratulations to all the finalists. The games were all highly contested and a special congratulations goes out to Deepti Vijayakumar and Abbie Brooks who both won the treble, Deepti at under 13 winning singles beating Shannon Leslie in the final, level doubles with Qing Yang Xiao beating Gemma Foulis and Shannon Leslie in the final, and mixed with Blair Tait beating Linyun Xiao and Qing Yan Xiao (both still under 12 and 11) in what was a fantastic final .

Abbie won the singles against unseeded Katie Stewart, level doubles with Iona Muir (still only 12yrs old) beating Sophie Ford and Katie Stewart in the final and the mixed with Angus Meldrum beating Callum Stokes and Brooke Stalker in the final.

Boys under 13 singles was won by Ewan Stewart 3^rd seed who defeated the top seed Blair Tait in the final. Doubles was won by Tushar Sethilrajaram and Abhinav Vinjam who beat Fraser Banks and Callum Jack in the final.

Under 17 singles was won by Euan Campbell the top seed who beat the 2^nd seed Callum Stokes, Euan made it a double wining the boys doubles with Nathan Macpherson beating the ¾ seeds Grant Lewis and Finlay Sheriff in the final.

The west committee would like to thank everyone who entered the parents and coaches who came along to support them, the Cockburn centre staff, Jean McVean and Ewan Waddle for helping at the table and finally the Badminton Scotland court officials who help make the finals special.
