All Formal Competitions Cancelled Until the End of the Year

Due to the current situation with Covid 19 and the guidance provided by the Scottish Government and sportscotland, we have taken the decision to cancel all formal competitions until the end of the year.

Unfortunately, this includes two national events – the U11/15/19 National Junior Championships scheduled for 5/6 December and the National Masters Championships scheduled for 31 October/1 November.

Additionally, we have decided to cancel the International Masters Championships, scheduled for 22-24 January 2021. We may look to run an age group Masters event during that weekend, depending on the prevailing situation, but running an international event will not be feasible.

We do not taken these decisions lightly but events are currently restricted to being aimed at players who are local to the facility at which the event is being held, which makes running any kind of international, national or other ranking event impossible.

Furthermore, doubles is still not permitted indoors, due to the inability to fully social distance. The government had been planning to review this in early October, but that timescale has now been delayed.

Finally, many sports centres are still not open, meaning finding a venue is difficult in some areas.
