Dundee Area Badminton: December Round Up

The T Duncan & Co mixed league 2nd Division promises to be an exciting affair this season. Carnoustie Panbride and Monifieth Grove went into the seaside derby with 100% records to defend.

It was close early on with Monifieth Grove winning the opening game, but Carnoustie edged 2-1 ahead after the level doubles. A couple of further wins in the mixed sealed what in the end was a 5-2 victory, with the 21-11, 21-11 win by Maria Boyd and Donnie Smith in Game 7 being decisive. Lachlan Mulford was in cracking form for Carnoustie with 3 wins.

Nomads 3 moved to the top of the table, as they also maintained their 100% record with a 7-1 win v Dundee University 3. Lucy Camlin, Jason Cheng and Simon Krols were on top form for the league leaders with 3 wins.

The T Duncan & Co Gents and ladies doubles leagues were back on the fixture list with some good Badminton on show.

In Gents Division 1, NCR are having a tremendous season and moved to the top of the table with a convincing 6-0 win v David Lloyd to make it four wins out of four. Robert Adamson maintained his own 100% record with 3 wins and moved to the top of the rankings.

In Gents Division 2 Forfar maintained their 100% record at the top of the table with a 6-0 win v NCR 2, who were hampered by being a player short. Ciaran Dugoid’s 3 wins has him at the top of the Divisional rankings.

Kirriemuir 2 moved into 2nd place with an excellent 4-1 win v Monifieth Grove. Ian Anderson was on top form for Kirrie in this one with 3 wins.

Forfar’s 2nd team are emulating their first team counterparts and top the Gents 3rd Division with a 100% record following a 4-0 win v Carnoustie 2. A J Govier was the Forfar favourite with 3 wins in this one and tops the rankings in this league.

David Lloyd 2 got their first win of the season with a 3-0 victory v Monifieth Grove 2 which went into the final round of games before being decided with a 21-13, 21-13 win by Scott Packwood and Jack Sandilands in the final game proving decisive.

In the ladies league, reigning champions NCR have bounced back well from their opening day defeat and moved to the top of the table with an excellent 5-0 win v Carnoustie. Jaclyn Dunn and Emma Defew were on top form for the Cash with 3 wins each.
