Dundee Area Badminton: Doubles League Round Up
By Gordon Smith
There was another exciting round of fixtures in the Gents and Ladies doubles league on Sunday.
In Gents Division 1 reigning champions Nomads moved ominously clear at the top of the table with a convincing 6-0 win v David Lloyd
In Division 2 Kirriemuir 2 bounced back from an opening day defeat with a 4-0 win v NCR 2. The win wasn’t sealed until the final round of games however when 2 wins for Kirrie sealed victory.
In Division 3, Carnoustie 2 are the early leaders following a 4-1 win v Dundee University. This was close early on with the Angus side only taking a 2-1 lead into the final round of games, but 2 further wins sealed victory. Ross Wiseman and Sanjay Gummadi were the Carnoustie crackers with 3 wins each.
Newcomers Forfar 2 got off to a great start also winning 4-1 v Monfieth Grove. This match followed a very similar pattern with 2 wins in the final round of games also sealing victory.
In the ladies league Carnoustie moved to the top of the table with a comfortable 6-0 win v Dundee University.
There was only one match in the mixed leagues with David Lloyd winning convincingly against Abertay University 9-0 in Division 2.
Pics are action photos from Monifieth Grove 2 v Forfar 2 and Carnoustie Panbride 2 v Dundee University, as well as the Forfar 2 team resplendent in their new tops (and supported by First team players Kyle and Ciaran Dugoid).
