Dundee Area Badminton: Round Up

By Gordon Smith

It was a busy day for David Lloyd on Sunday with 2 T Duncan & Co mixed doubles fixtures with mixed fortunes. First up was a home tie with St Andrews University in the afternoon, where they ran out 7-0 winners. Alison Hay, Scott Packwood and Jordan Stewart all had 3 wins for the victors in that one.

There was then a thriller in the evening, as they travelled to Ward Road to meet Nomads 3. The home side were 2-1 ahead after the level doubles, then there was a win apiece before David Lloyd levelled in the penultimate game to take it to a last game decider. Luca Iannetta and Lucy Camlin clinched it for Nomads 3 with a 21-16, 21-11 win for a 4-3 victory. Credit to both sides however for serving up some great badminton. Christie Laird can consider herself unfortunate to be on the losing side after her 2 wins, although has the consolation of leading the ladies rankings.

Also a shout out to Jordan Stewart who as well as playing in both matches also managed to fit in playing in the DABA ladder prior to the first match partnering team-mate Ayden Greensmith. At the end of a very tiring day Jordan also extended his lead at the top of the gents rankings. David Lloyd also top the table currently although they have played more matches than all the other teams.
