Report for w/e 12/2/24

It’s very exciting at the top of the T Duncan & Co ladies league with a single point separating the top 4 teams. Carnoustie moved level on points with the top 2 (albeit having played a game more) with a hard fought 4-2 win v David Lloyd. Wins in the opening two games paved the way to victory for Carnoustie and a 21-12, 21-9 win by Maria Boyd and Fiona Cameron I Game 5 sealed the win. Maria was in cracking form for Carnoustie with 3 wins and moved 4 points clear at the top of the rankings.

In Gents Division 1 NCR bounced back from last week’s defeat and moved back to the top of the table with an excellent 2-1 win v Kirriemuir. NCR took a 1-0 lead int the final 2 games and a 21-14, 21-11 win by Robert Adamson and Josh Lowe in Game 5 ensured victory for the Cash. Josh’s 2 wins and a draw propelled him to the top of the Divisional rankings.

It was the turn of gents Division 2 to see a clash of the top 2 and leaders Forfar triumphed 3-0 in the local derby v Kirriemuir 2 and it’s difficult to see the title not heading to Forfar now, with them being 5 points clear at the top. This one did go down to the final set of games though until Kyle Duguid and Tom Metcalfe clinched it with a 21-11, 21-15 win, with Tom maintaining his own 100% record as he moved to the top of the rankings.

The other match in Division 2 saw the honours shared as Monifieth Grove and Lunchtime battled out a 3-3 draw with nothing to separate the sides. Lunctime’s Yimou Yang was the star player in this one with 3 wins.

In Division 3 Carnoustie 2 moved to within a point of the leaders with a 4-0 win v David Lloyd. A couple of wins in the final set of games sealed the victory for Carnoustie.

After a sticky start Dundee University are coming into a bit of form and they made it two wins in a row with a 4-0 victory v Monifieth Grove 2. Usama Ahmad starred for the students with 3 wins in this one.

In the Handicap Cup Nomads moved into the quarter finals with a 4-0 win v Dundee University 3, but the students put up a spirited performance with a number of big wins in the rubbers. It was very close early on with the first 3 games drawn, but 3 consecutive wins virtually clinched it for Nomads who now face NCR in the Quarter finals.
