Excitement Builds for the Inaugural Junior Scottish Cup!
The inaugural Badminton Scotland Junior Scottish Cup is set to take place on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the Sir Craig Reedie Badminton Centre in Glasgow. This exciting new event on the junior badminton calendar offers young players the chance to represent their clubs and compete at a national event in a team-based format.
The competition has attracted a diverse range of teams, with clubs from various regions entering the tournament.
A regional qualifier was held on January 26, 2025, at Bathgate Academy for teams in the East. The qualifiers featured a round-robin format and play off games. The top teams from this qualifier advanced to the quarter final, joining 3 teams from the West.
In a standout performance, EBA 1 won the East qualifier, beating EBA 2 with a commanding 7-0 scoreline in the top two play-off match. Both EBA 1 and EBA 2 won all of their pool matches so may be ones to watch in the final.
Seven teams participated in the East qualifier, with five securing their spots in the quarter-finals – EBA 1, EBA 2, EBA 3, AI YU BC and West Lothian Jabs. The will be joined by three West teams ABC, Scotstoun BC 1 and Scotstoun BC 2
On the day of the event, quarter-final winners will progress to the semi-finals and ultimately compete for a place in the inaugural Junior Scottish Cup final. The full draw and route to the final can be found below.
