Gilmour Dunn & Hall to fight for Orleans semi-finals

Kirsty Gilmour has reached the quarter-finals of the women’s singles at the Orleans International, while Alex Dunn and Adam Hall are also still in contention at the quarter-final stage of the men’s doubles.

Gilmour won her opening women’s singles tie in convincing fashion, downing Canadian Brittney Tam 21-12 21-10.

Her second round match was more of a contest as Belgian Lianne Tan ran her close in the first before Gilmour took it 25-23 on her sixth game point before winning the second 21-11.

Now the No.1 seed faces Switzerland’s Sabrina Jaquet on Friday evening as she attempts to reach the semi-finals of this BWF World Tour 100 event.

In the men’s doubles Dunn and Hall upset the formbook early on, beating Japanese eighth seeds Hiroki Okamura and Masayuki Onodera 21-17 25-27 21-14 in their opening contest before scoring a more straightforward 21-14 21-19 win over another Indonesia’s Muhammad Fikri and Bagas Maulana.

They face another pair from the far-east – Japan’s Mahiro Kaneko and Yunosuke Kubota – on Friday evening with a place in the semi-finals the reward for the victorious pair.
