Gilmour safely through in Spain
Kirsty Gilmour got her Barcelona Masters campaign off to a winning start this afternoon with a comfortable first round victory.
Scotland’s sixth seed needed just 29 minutes to see off the challenge of Czech player Katerina Tomalova, despite a slow start which left her trailing 7-1 in the first game.
Gilmour now faces Mette Poulsen of Denmark with a potential clash against the second seed Sayaka Takahashi in the quarter-finals.
But there was disappointment for Alex Dunn and Adam Hall who were beaten by Denmark’s Kasper Antonsen and Niclas Nohr 25-23 21-13.
Yesterday Hall and Julie MacPherson received a walkover in the first round of the mixed doubles and they now face Robin Tabeling and Cheryl Seinen tomorrow.
