In the under 17 events Lewis Hart won his first ever treble!

In his singles semi-final he defeated first seed Euan Campbell 21-8, 14-21, 21-13 then in the final defeated second seed Callum Stokes 22-20, 21-18. Callum had a very hard semi-final against Angus Meldrum, only winning 21-19 in the third set.

Lewis, with partner Isaac Weir were no 1 seeds in the boys’ doubles and comfortably took the title by beating Euan and Nathan Macpherson in the final.

Again Lewis and partner Jodie Black lived up to their no 1 seeding beating Euan and Jess Rae who had beaten no 2 seeds Finlay Sherriff and Keryn Swan in the semi-final.

The U17 girls’ doubles saw Katrina Chan and Ishbel McCallister, who were no 2 seeds defeating the no 1 seeds Keryn Swan and Eva Tremble in the final.

The under 13 age group also produced a treble winner – Iona Muir winning her three events without losing a set all weekend – a remarkable performance!

In the final of the singles she overcame Deepti Vijayakumar and then teamed up with Deepti to defeat Iona Aitken and Pranavi Singh in the final of the doubles.

In the mixed doubles her partner was Blair Tait and they defeated Tushar Senthilrajaram and his young sister Tushara (who is only 9 years old) in the final. They had beaten second seeds Ewan Stewart and Lanna Campbell in the semi-final.

Daniel Kemp (England) took the U13 boys singles title by defeating Tushar in the final.

The U13 boys’ doubles produced the only 3 set match of the finals with Daniel, partnered by Matthew Brown, defeating Lewis Smith and Ewan 23-21, 19-21, 21-13

Overall, an excellent weekend of badminton and a great display of sportsmanship from all the players.
