Performance Coach of the Year 2022: Julie Hogg

We would like to extend our congratulations to Julie Hogg, who was awarded The Badminton Scotland Performance Coach of the Year 2022 at our inaugural awards, and has also received recognition through parliamentary motion, lodged by Claire Baker MSP (Scottish Labour), Mid Scotland and Fife Region.

The letter outlined Julie’s achievements and acknowledged her hard work and dedication to making a positive difference to the young people she coaches.

Motion Text: That the Parliament congratulates Julie Hogg, from Dunfermline, after being named as Performance Coach of the Year at the inaugural Badminton Scotland Awards 2022; notes that Julie received her award during a European Mixed Team Championship qualifying event, which was held at Scotstoun, Glasgow; understands that the sport’s governing body recognised Julie’s outstanding commitment to coaching and further development of athletes, while supporting and demonstrating valued performance sport behaviours within coaching, as well as building relationships with players and the team; acknowledges that Julie’s late husband, Russell, was a former Scotland international who won a bronze medal at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester; understands that Julie works with Disability Sport Fife, whilst leading a sports academy in Edinburgh and has also established the Russell Hogg Trust supporting athletes with a disability, and aspiring badminton players, aged between six and 16, and continues to work on Badminton Scotland’s regional programme; expresses its gratitude to Julie for her hard work, dedication and the contribution she has made to the sport locally and beyond, and extends its very best wishes for continued success to her in the future.
