Perth & Kinross Disability Championships: Round Up

The third Perth & Kinross Disability Sport Badminton Championships 2022 took place at Perth College on Saturday 12 November.

There was a great turn out with 40 competitors taking part over 7 categories. The furthest travelled was from Shetland, with large contingents travelling through from Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Graeme Doig from Perth & Kinross Disability Sport Group, organised and ran the event with his usual efficiency and good humour, helped by his not so glamorous assistants Stewart from P&KDSG and Jane from Badminton Scotland (their words, not ours!)

There was great support from the Glenearn Badminton Club who supplied umpires for the matches, along with Neil from Crieff Badminton Club. Perth & District Badminton Association supplied all the feather shuttles which was much appreciated by organisers.

Thanks to sponsorship from Stagecoach all events were free of charge and the winners and runners ups received trophies and medals. Every competitor also received a certificate for attending and competing in the event.

There were some fantastic matches for the spectators, with at least two of the finals going to three sets. Special mention must go to Colin Leslie, who only returned from the World Para Badminton Championships 2022 in Japan a few days before, but who came and supported the event and won his category.

We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who played, supported and officiated, and congratulations to our new Champions and medal winners:
