Badminton Scotland are looking for 2 motivated and dynamic individuals to join our Equality Advisory Group (EAG). These are voluntary positions.
Role description:
The EAG helps to shape, influence, support and guide the development and delivery of an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion strategy and action plan within Badminton Scotland. The group serves as a consultative, influential and guidance body, and it includes representatives of diverse groups and organisations.
Members of the EAG contribute by exchanging information, advice and guidance to Badminton Scotland regarding Equality, Diversity and Inclusion matters; helping to catalyse and develop new partnerships; and providing a powerful advocacy voice on inclusion practice.
The time commitment expected from this role is minimal, but individuals may choose to dedicate more time to the position as they see fit. The EAG meets virtually 3 times a year, and it is expected that all members attend unless they provide a suitable reason for their absence. Members may also be contacted and consulted between meetings as and when required.
Person specification:
No particular qualifications are required to hold this position, however, this person should have a passion for and understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion issues, ideally in a sports context.
Desirable traits and characteristics:
-
Eagerness to participate in meetings;
-
Strong desire for stewardship to others;
-
Supportive, but willing to express their own opinions;
-
Ability to think long term and strategically;
-
Strives to learn as much as possible.
No badminton knowledge is required, although this would be a bonus. Successful candidates should be able to consolidate this voluntary position alongside their other responsibilities.
