Scottish Open Day 3: Hat-Trick Hopes for Mads and Christine
By RJ Mitchell
Mads Vestergaard and Christine Busch are hoping to make it a hat-trick of Mixed Doubles titles when they meet fellow Danes Jesper Toft and Clara Gravesen in tomorrow’s Scottish Open Final.
No.2 seeds Vestergaard and Busch dispatched Callum Henning and Estelle Van Leeuwen of England 21-10, 21-13 while the top-ranked Toft and Gravesen were also straight set winners against Germany’s Jan Colin Voelker and Sine Kuespert 21-17, 21-15 to set up the battle of the Danes.
But with the two pairings knowing each other’s games inside out, Vestergaard and Busch are determined to make it a hat-trick and Christine shared: “We play with them every day in training and we both know each other’s games very well but we have a good record against them this season having beaten them in the Polish final.
“We are also hoping to make it three big titles for the season after winning the Nantes International and also the Polish and it would be nice to win for a third time in Scotland.
“Jesper and Clara will be very determined but we are looking forward to it very much.”
