Statement On The Death Of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

Badminton Scotland is saddened to hear of the passing of Her Majesty the Queen.

On behalf of everyone at Badminton Scotland and our members our thoughts are with our Patron, Prince Edward, and all members of The Royal Family at this sad and difficult time.

Following the passing of Her Majesty the Queen, the Department of Digital, Culture, Media & Sport have provided guidance and advice indicating that there is “no obligation to cancel or postpone” sporting events.

In line with this guidance, Badminton Scotland will continue to sanction and organise Badminton activities over the period of mourning, however it will be at the discretion of tournament organisers if they wish their event to proceed during the period of mourning. As a mark of respect, and in keeping with the tone of National Mourning, organisers may wish to hold a period of silence at the start or during their event.
