Team Selection: 2023 European Mixed Team Championships
The Scottish team for the European Mixed Team Championships in Aire-sur-la-Lys, France from 14-18 February 2023 has been announced.
To give our team the best chance to achieve this, Badminton Scotland has selected a balanced team primarily based on performance measures. The main goal is to select players that can make a difference and help the team by winning matches at this event.
A selection based on the future potential of players to achieve this standard in the future is possible but can be seen as the clear secondary selection objective for this event.
APPEALS PROCESS
Players have the right of appeal to Badminton Scotland; and any such appeal, noting the grounds for the appeal, must be sent to the Chief Executive, Keith Russell keith@badmintonscotland.org.uk in writing within 3 days of the date of a letter indicating non-selection; or within 5 days of the date of a selection letter sent to another player. Such letter of appeal requires to include a cheque for £25 payable to “Badminton Scotland”. If the appeal is successful, the deposit will be refunded. Otherwise, the deposit will be forfeit.
For senior team selections, Clause 3.4.2 of the Bye-Laws states:
“There will only be two grounds for appeal:
(a) that the selection was not made according to due process or in accordance with the agreed criteria;
(b) that there was unreasonable bias or conflict of interest in one or more of the selectors”
The Chair of the Board and Chief Executive will be responsible for convening an Appeals Panel at a time and place that is satisfactory to the Appeals Panel.
The Panel’s decision on the Appeal is formally advised to the appellant as soon as possible following the Appeals Panel meeting. As intimated above, only in the event of the Appeal being upheld will the £25 payment is reimbursed.
