U13/17 Scottish National Junior Championships Seeds

Iona Muir is well placed as top seed to defend her singles title as the U13/17 National Junior Championships get underway in Glasgow this weekend.

Muir took both the U15 and U17 Singles titles last year and is on fine form following her U17 Spanish Open gold last month.

The U15 girls doubles champions Katrina Chan and Ishbel McCallister are top seeds for this year’s event and as runners up in last year’s U19 Championships, they will pose stiff competition for second seeds Vibha Raman and Brooke Stalker, should they meet in the final.

Matthew Waring and Lewis Coghill are seeded first and second respectively for the singles event and will pair up for the boys’ doubles where they are favourites to win.

Waring made his mark in December, coming second to Angus Meldrum in the U19 event whilst Coghill was runner up in the U17 event in August.

In the under 13 events, Alfie Martin and Dylan Jia are first and second seeds in the boys’ singles event and will team up for the doubles, where Alfie will be looking to defend his title.

Runners up from 2021 Tushara Senthilrajaram and Alfie Martin are top seeds in the mixed event, however, they face a challenge in the race for gold from second seeds Jaagruti Mannem and Dylan Jia who will be making their mixed doubles debut together.

Tushara is also no.1 seed in the girls’ singles and is hoping to take home the trophy after finishing in second place last year.

The U13/17 Scottish National Junior Championships is being held at the Sir Craig Reedie Badminton Centre on Saturday 2^nd and Sunday 3^rd April.
