Wilson to compete in Uganda Para-Badminton International
The Para-Badminton players now move on to the third Paralympic qualification event.
With Turkey and Dubai completed, the Scottish players will be looking to bounce back and get their quest back on track after tough defeats in the opening rounds.
Mary Wilson is the only Scottish player venturing to Africa, with Colin Leslie and Alan Oliver choosing to wait a couple more weeks to play the Canadian International.
The tournament will be held in Kampala, Uganda, from 21-28 April and Wilson said: “Last year I managed to win gold in the SL4 singles, SL3-SU5 Women’s doubles and also the mixed doubles.
“This year, as the tournaments hot up due to not only playing for World Ranking points, but also Paralympic qualifying points, things are getting very tense.
“My first two competitions were disappointing and I am determined to make up ground with some great games and results coming my way.
“It is once again all to play for and the Ugandan austere conditions, due to the hall we play in, the environment and the different cultures make it a very unique challenge.
“We have been told that due to late game play there is a possibility some of the players may end up sleeping in the hall with armed guards at the doors!!!
“Fingers crossed for great tournament results and sleeping in our own beds every night.”
