Yorkshire U14 Open Tournament 2023: Well done Charlie Junnor

Congratulations to Charlie Junnor who won the U14 boy’s singles in York over the weekend.

Charlie has travelled 748 miles in a week, playing in both the U15 Quadrangular in Wales last week and the Yorkshire U14 Open – well done Charlie!

Charlie also competed in the double’s with partner Dhruva Bandarupally.

They lost out in the first round in a tough draw against number 1 seed with a score of 16-14 15-7. In the second round they played over 3 sets and despite getting off to a great start, they couldn’t do enough against Aayush Gourisaria and Alex Steel (6-15 15-12 15-7).

In the third round they faced second seeds and fell just short over 2 sets (15-7 17-15). In the fifth round the boy’s showed determination with a winning performance against Jake Harrision and Aadya Jain (9-15 13-15).
