Badminton Scotland remembers Robbie Robertson
Badminton Scotland is deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Robbie Robertson.
Robbie was a larger than life character who will be sadly missed by the badminton community. Robbie had a big influence in junior badminton, with many people in Lothian joining his club nights and even more participating in his competitions at Penicuik. He provided great opportunities for people to play and enjoy the game at different levels, while always providing a fun and welcoming environment. I’m sure everyone in the badminton community would like to send their thoughts to his family and friends.

Many of the badminton community knew Robbie Robertson well, not least through his ever-encouraging tones to play his beloved Penicuik underage competitions. I was personally delighted to play in those events over the years, as an important part of my development as a player. Robbie did so much for badminton in the Penicuik area, Lothian, and latterly in the Stonehaven area. Badminton Scotland will sorely miss his influence and his cheery nature.
