Dundee Area Badminton: Round Up

It’s looking like a 1-2 for Nomads at the top of the T Duncan & Co Mixed League Division 1. Nomads 2 moved clear in 2nd place with a 5-2 win v NCR. They held a 2-1 lead after the level doubles, but the Cash levelled with a win in the opening mixed, however 3 further wins clinched it for Nomads 2 with the the decisive win being a 21-15, 23-21 win by John Lowrence and Jenny Tones in the penultimate game, with John and Jenny also starring overall with 3 wins each. Both Nomads teams now only have to fulfil their final fixtures to clinch 1st and 2nd spot respectively.

In the 2nd Division it was 3rd v 4th in an exciting St Patricks day local derby as Monifieth Grove visited David Lloyd. The first round of fixtures saw David Lloyd take the lead with a win in the opening ladies doubles, but Monifieth Grove won the 2nd ladies doubles and it was very tight at 1-1 with 6 games gone. The sides couldn’t be separated with a win apiece and a draw in the final round of games for what in the end was a fair share of the spoils in a 2-2 draw. The result moved Monifieth Grove up to 2nd place on games difference, though Nomads 3 in third have a game in hand.
