EBA win inaugural Junior Scottish Cup
Edinburgh Badminton Academy emerged victorious at the inaugural Junior Scottish Cup over the weekend.
Eight teams contested the finals with EBA’s first team coming out on to and their second team finishing joint third.
EBA 1 started off with a thumping 7-0 win over West Lothian Jabs, before also winning their semi-final against Ai Yu 7-0.
In the bottom half of the draw Scotstoun Badminton Club’s first team also won 7-0 against EBA 3, while EBA 2 beat Scotstoun 2 in the other semi-final.
EBA 2 were no match for Scotstoun 1 in the semis, with the Glasgow based club winning 7-0 to set up a final showdown with EBA 1.
In the final Reyansh Arora beat Vincent Li 21-12 21-16 in the boys’ singles and Zoe Tait won a thriller against Emily Joshua 22-20, 20-22, 22-20 meaning Scotstoun 1 had won every single singles match they were involved in.

But EBA stepped things up in the doubles events. Melrick Dsouza and Dylan Jia beat Arora and Rory Meldrum 21-8 21-15 and Li and Justin Wong won 21-14 21-17 against Maoyan Li and Nathan Wong in the second boys’ doubles before Joshua and Emily Jobson won the girls’ doubles 21-17 21-16 against Tait and Iona Lin.
And EBA won both mixed doubles to give them a 5-2 victory when Dsouza and Jobson beat Meldrum and Lin 21-15 21-17 and Jia and Joshua beat Wong and Tait 21-11 21-15.
