Gold Medal Success for Grimley Twins in ’s-Hertogenbosch

5th October 2026 by Robert McLean

Matt and Chris Grimley claimed a brilliant gold medal at the Yonex Dutch Open in ’s-Hertogenbosch yesterday, adding another title to their growing collection after their gold medal success at the Yonex Belgian International last month.

The Scottish twins were in imperious form throughout the tournament, winning the event without dropping a single set and underlining the confidence currently running through their game.

The Grimleys began their campaign in impressive fashion on Friday, taking on Ireland’s Guildea and Reynolds in the round of 16. The Scots wasted little time establishing control, producing a dominant display to secure a convincing 21-7, 21-13 victory and book their place in the quarter-finals.

Saturday brought a much tougher challenge against an in-form Danish pairing of Nebel and Søby. In a high-quality contest, the twins showed composure when it mattered most, coming through 21-19, 21-17 to reach the semi-finals.

Later that day, Matt and Chris faced their first meeting on tour with English fourth seeds Oliver Butler and Samuel Jones. The twins once again produced a confident performance, taking control of the match and securing a 21-13, 21-19 victory to set up a place in the final.

Sunday’s final brought another Danish challenge, with the Grimleys facing Kristoffer Kolding and Calvin Lundsgaard, the latter ranked World No. 122.

There was to be no stopping the Scots, however, as Matt and Chris produced another dominant display to claim the gold medal with a 21-13, 21-10 victory.

Winning the Yonex Dutch Open without dropping a set is a superb achievement and provides further evidence of the twins’ growing confidence and consistency on the international stage. Following their Belgian International triumph last month, the back-to-back gold medals provide excellent momentum as they head into a busy period of HSBC BWF World Tour events.

A huge congratulations to Matt and Chris Grimley on another outstanding tournament and another gold medal!

There was also a welcome return to tour-level action for Angus Meldrum, who competed in his first tour-level event since injury. A big well done to Angus on making his return to the international circuit.

The road ahead is certainly busy, but the Grimley twins will head into the coming World Tour events full of confidence following another hugely impressive week in ’s-Hertogenbosch.
