Hellas International Future Series – Day 2 Review

21st October 2026 by Robert McLean

Scotland’s Evan Kenny and Germany’s Aurelia Wulandoko enjoyed another encouraging tournament as a mixed doubles pairing at the Hellas International Future Series in Pyrgos, Greece, building on the positives from their opening event together.

Starting their campaign in the main draw, Kenny and Wulandoko faced Malta’s Gatt and Azzopardi, knowing that a strong start would be key to progressing through the draw. The pair delivered an assured performance, showing good composure and consistency to secure a convincing straight-games victory, winning 21-13, 21-13 and booking their place in the last 16.

A significantly tougher challenge awaited in the next round, as the pair came up against Switzerland’s third-seeded combination of Panza and Jann. Facing opponents ranked considerably higher, Kenny and Wulandoko were under no illusions about the task ahead, but they rose to the occasion and pushed the Swiss pairing throughout a closely contested encounter.

Despite their best efforts, the Scottish-German combination narrowly missed out on a place in the quarter-finals, eventually going down in a deciding third game, 21-16. Although the result did not go their way, the performance demonstrated the potential of the developing partnership, with Kenny and Wulandoko proving they can compete with some of the higher-ranked pairs on the circuit.

With another victory secured and valuable experience gained against seeded opposition, there are plenty of positives to take from their second tournament together. As the partnership continues to develop, both players will be encouraged by the progress made in Pyrgos, with further opportunities ahead to build on this promising start.

Looking ahead

Kenny will now turn his attention back to the domestic and European circuit, with his next three tournaments taking place closer to home. He will reunite with regular men’s doubles partner Josh Taylor for a busy run of events in Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

The upcoming tournaments will provide an opportunity for Kenny and Taylor to get back on court together and build momentum, following Kenny’s recent experience competing internationally in Greece.

For Kenny and Wulandoko, however, the Hellas International has provided further evidence of the potential within this new partnership. With a main-draw victory under their belts and a strong challenge against the tournament’s third seeds, the signs are positive for what could come next.
