Despite the last-minute call-up, Tan showed composure and determination, recovering from a set down to take a memorable three-game victory. There was more success for Scotland with James Robertson, who battled through a tight three-set match to secure an impressive win. Robertson’s control in the final stages and his ability to stay calm ensured he booked his place in the next round.
Strong performances continued as Ganesh Bajaji and Ewan Campbell also claimed wins to reach round two. Both players showed confidence and consistency, giving the home supporters plenty to cheer about.
