Hylo Open Preview: Six Scottish Athletes seeded in an narrow Hylo draw
The Hylo open over in Germany begins today with multiple Scottish athlete seeded at a World Tour 300 tournament.
Kirsty Gilmour leads the pack as second seed in the womens singles, with Ciara Torrance and Julie MacPherson as third seeds in womens doubles. Alex Dunn and Julie MacPherson in the mixed doubles and Chris and Matt Grimley in the mens doubles both sit as sevenths seeds. Adam Pringle and Alex Dunn are also competing in the mens doubles with Adam also competing in the mixed doubles alongside Rachel Andrew.
Speaking to Head Coach Ingo Kindervater about the draw he noted that the draw has been interesting this time around. “It’s a world tour 300 which is a high level tournament but in terms of entries, the French open is not taking place this week there is a weeks break between the Denmark Open and the Hylo Open and a lot of Asian countries have decided to go home in that week so the level of entries from previously isnt as strong from previous Hylo so its a very interesting event.”
“The whole draw is a draw we would like to see in terms of seeing how our players compete, reaching their levels and fancying their chances and having a slight edge on people. It’s a quite narrow field and we will be looking to see how our players conduct themselves in a situation where the gap between the best players in the draw and our players is not that large especially at the level of this tournament.”
