Main Draw the Aim as Meldrum Heads to Łódź

17th March 2026 by Robert McLean

Scotland will be represented by a single player this week at the Polish Open 2026, as Angus Meldrum travels to Łódź aiming to battle through qualifying and secure a place in the main draw.

Meldrum continues to show encouraging progress following last year’s injury setback, with the young Scot steadily building form and confidence on the international stage. This week presents another valuable opportunity to test himself in a highly competitive International Challenge field.

Tough Opening Test

The road to the main draw won’t be easy. Meldrum has been handed a challenging opening qualifying match against Denmark’s experienced campaigner Jeppe Bruun, the 4th seed in qualifying.

Scheduled as the 15th match on Court 4, the clash promises to be a stern examination of Meldrum’s recent progress. With Bruun’s experience and seeding, the Scot will need to produce one of his strongest performances to advance.

Building Momentum

Despite the difficult draw, there is optimism around Meldrum’s trajectory. His return from injury has been marked by steady improvement, and a strong showing in Łódź could provide a significant boost as he looks to climb the rankings and re-establish himself on the European circuit.
