New CEO for Badminton Scotland
Badminton Scotland is delighted to announce Alan McMillan as its new Chief Executive Officer.
The former Scotland international player will take up the post in the coming weeks and we will announce the confirmed date in due course.
Alan has a strong background within the sports sector, having previously worked for Sportscotland and for 14 years as CEO of Bowls Scotland. Most recently he has been working in the sports sector in Ireland.
Alan said: “I’m truly honoured to have been invited by Kevin Scott, Chair of Badminton Scotland, to take on the role of CEO.
“Badminton has been such an important part of my life ever since I first picked up a racket at Inchinnan Badminton Club when I was 11.
“From those early days, through to representing Scotland on the world stage, to still competing (a little slower than in my 20s!) at Masters events across Europe and beyond, the sport has given me so much joy, friendship and opportunity.
“Having worked in sport for over 34 years, I’ve seen first-hand the power sport has to enrich lives and bring people together. Badminton, in particular, holds a very special place in my heart and I’m excited to help grow and strengthen our community here in Scotland.
“I’m really looking forward to working alongside everyone in the Scottish badminton family as we build on the incredible passion and talent already here, and as we create new opportunities for success both on and off the court.”
Alan’s appointment follows a rigorous search led by LHH Executive Recruitment,
which attracted more than 100 applications.
Badminton Scotland Chair Kevin Scott said: “After an extensive process and on behalf of the Board, I am delighted to welcome Alan as our full time CEO. I am looking forward to starting to work with Alan on the strategy and priorities that the sport has across all areas from grass roots and development to junior and senior performance.”
