Scottish contingent ready for Polish International challenge

Another strong Scottish contingent has arrived in the beautiful city of Krakow this week for the 2026 Polish International, with play set to get underway tomorrow and plenty of Scottish interest on the opening day.
Following a successful week in Belgium, where he navigated his way through qualifying to reach the main draw, Matthew Waring will be aiming to repeat that feat in Poland. The Scot is seeded fifth for qualifying and begins his campaign with a qualifying Round of 64 clash against home player Piotr Krajewski.
Waring’s opening match is scheduled to be the ninth match on Court 2 as he looks to make another push towards the main draw.
James Robertson will also be hoping to negotiate his way through qualifying and secure a place in the main draw. Starting as the third seed for qualifying, Robertson faces Czechia’s Daniel Dvořák in his opening Round of 64 qualifying match.
The third Scottish men’s singles player in action is Finlay Jack, who faces an all-British clash in the opening round. Jack takes on England’s Conway Wong as he begins his bid to progress through qualifying.
Thursday will see the doubles action get underway, with several Scottish players featuring in the draw.
Josh Taylor and Ishbel McCallister team up once again and face a tough opening assignment against seventh seeds and home pairing Michal Sobolewski and Joanna Sobolewska in the Round of 32.
There is also Scottish interest in the women’s doubles, with Brooke Stalker and Ishbel McCallister starting their campaign directly in the main draw. Their opponents are yet to be determined.
In the men’s doubles, Evan Kenny and Josh Taylor will also have to wait to discover their Round of 32 opponents, with their opposition to be decided once qualifying has concluded.
With Scottish players competing across singles and doubles throughout the week, there promises to be plenty to follow from Krakow.
