Scottish Disability National Championships A Growing Success
Badminton Scotland was delighted to host the Scottish National Disability Championships on Saturday 28 February at the Academy of Sport and Wellbeing, UHI Perth. The event brought together players from across the country for a fantastic day of inclusive and competitive badminton.
Now in its sixth edition under Badminton Scotland, the Championships continue to grow in strength and popularity. The event originally began in 2017 through the work of Scottish Disability Sport and Lothian Disability Badminton Club, and it has since developed into a key fixture on the disability badminton calendar in Scotland.
This year’s Championships once again showcased the inclusive nature of badminton in Scotland, with competitions held across both para-badminton and learning disability categories. Players competed in a range of singles and doubles events, demonstrating impressive skill, determination and sportsmanship throughout the day.
Entries have continued to increase year on year, reflecting the growing interest and development of disability badminton across Scotland. The expanding field created a lively and supportive atmosphere with players, volunteers and supporters contributing to a very positive and enjoyable event.
Badminton Scotland would like to thank all players, volunteers, officials and supporters who helped make the Championships such a success. Events like these highlight the strength of the disability badminton community and the importance of providing inclusive opportunities for players of all abilities to compete and develop.
Congratulations go to all of this year’s champions!
