Scottish Open 2024: Pringle and Dunn beat Crangle and Taylor in Scotland vs Scotland showdown
The Emirates Arena saw a high energy match between two Team Scotland men’s doubles at the Scottish Badminton Open 2024. Adam Pringle and Alexander Dunn beat Callum Crangle and Josh Taylor in two straight sets in the round of 32 on Friday afternoon.
Service was constantly switching back and forth between the pairs in the opening minutes. Some slip ups near the net from Crangle and Taylor made for easy points for Pringle and Dunn. The points came quickly with some good volleys in between.
Crangle and Taylor almost managed to keep up with the pair but Pringle and Dunn began to widen the gap even further. They easily took the first set 21-15. In the second set Crangle and Taylor came out strong and refreshed, nailing three points
straight away. Pringle and Dunn soon caught up, making it three all. Crangle and Taylor began to break away again and stayed safely in the lead as the points racked up into the teens.
Energised from a short break, Pringle and Dunn soon equalised and the teams continued to match each other’s points. Pringle and Dunn managed to get a few up on the other pair and victory was theirs, also winning the second and final set 21-15.
Pringle and Dunn will progress to the next round of the men’s doubles where they will play English pair Callum Hemming and Ethan Van Leeuwen.
