Scottish Stars Ready for Action at KFF Singapore Badminton Open 2025

Several of Scotland’s Senior Squad players are set to compete this week at the KFF Singapore Badminton Open 2025, one of the premier stops on the HSBC BWF World Tour Super 750 calendar. This prestigious tournament, known for its fierce international competition, marks the start of an exciting Asian swing for our athletes.

Kirsty Gilmour will be first to step onto the courts, opening her campaign on Court 1 at 10am GMT tomorrow, where she faces a challenging opener against world number 10 Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand.

Later in the day, also on Court 1, our top women’s doubles pairing Ciara Torrance and Julie MacPherson will take on a formidable Chinese duo: Jia Yi Fan and Zhang Shu Xian, currently ranked 11th in the world. Torrance and MacPherson will be looking to build on recent strong performances and showcase their defensive solidity against elite opposition.

Over on Court 2, the mixed doubles pairing of Alex Dunn and Julie MacPherson will face Indonesia’s Rinov Rivaldy and Pitha Haningtyas Mentari, ranked 38th in the world. With plenty of experience and growing chemistry, Dunn and MacPherson will aim to get their Asian tour off to a winning start.

This tournament marks the beginning of a two-event Asian Swing for our Scottish athletes, who will travel next to Jakarta for the KAPAL API Indonesia Open—another key fixture on the BWF World Tour. With top-level competition and valuable ranking points on the line, it’s an important fortnight for our players as they continue their international campaign.

We wish all our athletes the very best in Singapore and of course coach Robert Blair! – stay tuned to Badminton Scotland for a tournament roundup.
